Flights

We strongly suggest that guests plan to fly to Seattle no later than Friday morning, October 6th in order to attend the Welcome Party that evening from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm the next morning! The Wedding Party has different instructions and should be arriving no later than Thursday night, October 5th!

Accommodations

PLEASE STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

Let us explain! Getting to the venue is difficult (see the below section for details ) as such, we are planning on shuttling you there! You can imagine that would be more difficult the more spread out everyone is.

We had blocked off rooms at the Hampton Inn in Northgate that are available at a (slightly) discounted rate. There are a couple of reasons why we strongly suggest staying here that are all related to how you will get to the venue .

How to Book a Room

You can go to this link to book your stay! The group code should be pre-filled, but for reference, it is CHHJHW. We have rooms available starting on Wednesday, Oct. 4th through Monday, Oct. 9th, as such, please select whichever dates work best for you during that window!

You should be able to find all of the hotel booking minutia in the link above!

The window to book a room through our group code has closed, please book a room at this hotel through regular means (e.g. calling them or making a reservation online) if you still need accommodations.

Getting Around Seattle

We highly suggest taking the Light Rail from the Airport to the Hotel Accommodations. The Light Rail is fast, safe, and cheap! Currently, the Light Rail has only 1 Line running from Sea Tac Airport, through downtown to the last station on the line, Northgate. A map is below:

As you can see, the Light Rail runs direct from the Airport to the Station closest to the hotel we have reserved a group rate at!

Taking the Light Rail is as fast and MUCH CHEAPER.

To use the Light Rail you need to purchase tickets using the Transit Go App. You only need to show it to someone if a fare enforcer asks to see it!

You can actually use this app for all of the public transit in Seattle, Light Rail, Street Car, or Bus!

We expect most people to only come to Ballard once or twice, primarily for the Welcome party on Friday evening! Unfortunately, the only way to use public transit to get there is by BOTH Light Rail AND Bus, which may be a little much for those not familiar with public transit in the US!

For those coming to the Welcome Party we would suggest using an Uber and Carpooling as much as possible! A one-way Uber should run about $28 and can usually seat up to 3 people.

There are a lot of cool places to see while you're here!

We have some reccommendations for what to see in the Things To Do Tab which are centered in a few areas, namely the University of Washington, South Lake Union, Capitol Hill, Seattle Proper, Fremont, and Ballard. Use the below table for suggestion on getting to each one!

See more suggestions for what to do here on the Things to Do Page!
  • University of Washington (UW)

UW is one of the most gorgeous Universites in the US, and also where the Bride received her Masters in Material Science & Engineering! Visit here if you want to see some wonderful gothic architecture and some pleasant trails!

To get here, walk to the Northgate Light Rail Station and take it two stops to the UW station. This should cost $2.50 one-way and will take approximately 5 minutes.

  • South Lake Union (SLU)

SLU is the lake in the middle of downtown! It is a popular kayaking destination and is also where the Grooms office is!

Getting here is a little more difficult, but still very doable! I would suggest walking to the Northgate Light Rail Station and taking it to Westlake Station in downtown. This is five stops and will take ~ 19 minutes.

From there, walk to the SLU Street Car Stop at Olive Street and take it six stops to Lake Union Park. This will drop you off right by the Grooms office and on the lake shore!

This whole trip would be $2.75 for the Light Rail to Westlake and then $2.25 for the Streetcar! A comparable Uber would be nearly $40!!!

  • Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill is the main night life district in Seattle, if you are wanting to go out to for a drink before or after dark, Capitol Hill has some of the best breweries and clubs! On top of this, there are some fantastic book shops and restaraunts here!

To get here, walk to the Northgate Light Rail Station and take it three stops to the Capitol Hill station. This should cost $2.50 one-way and will take approximately 10 minutes.

  • Seattle Space Needle

The Space Needle is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Seattle! On top of the Needle there is also the Chihuly Gardens and Glass which is the coolest blown glass museum in the world!

To get here, walk to the Northgate Light Rail Station and taking it to Westlake Station in downtown. This is five stops and will take ~ 19 minutes.

From there, you have the opportunity to take the original, from the Seattle Worlds Fair in 1962, Seattle Monorail direct to the Space Needle! There is only one stop which will drop you off right by the Space Needle in THREE MINUTES! You can buy tickets at the Westlake Station!

  • Fremont

Fremont is a neighborhood known for its quirky and eclectic atmosphere. Some popular activities in Fremont include visiting the Fremont Troll under the Aurora Bridge, browsing the unique boutiques and shops along Fremont Avenue, or trying one of the many excellent restaurants, bars and coffee shops (we reccommend Ophelias Book Store and Kwanjai Thai)!.

One of the famous attraction in Fremont is Fremont Brewing, a craft brewery that produces a wide range of beers, from traditional styles to experimental, seasonal offerings.

One of the best ways to get to Fremont is by taking an Uber from the hotel (a good drop off point would be the Fremont Brewery)!, or by walking from the Light Rail station at the University of Washington. This will take around 30 minutes but will give you a chance to get some of the best views of downtown from Gasworks Park!

  • Ballard

Ballard is known for its maritime history & vibrant food/drink scene. Visitors can explore the historic fishing village, inc. the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, which connect the fresh water of Lake Union to the saltwater of the Puget Sound with the famous Fish Ladder!

The Ballard Farmers Market is a must-see for foodies, offering a wide variety of locally-sourced produce, meats, cheeses, & crafts every Sunday! Ballard Avenue, the main street in the neighborhood, is lined with independent shops, bars, & restaurants, many of which feature live music on weekends.

The Ballard Brewery District is a popular spot for visitors, as it features several craft breweries, like Reuben's Brews, Lucky Envelope Brewing, and Obec Brewing, all of which offer a range of beers with great outdoor seating & food trucks.

Unfortunately, public transit to Ballard would require both the light rail and a bus, so taking an Uber is recommended for getting there from the hotel.

Getting to the Wedding

The Wedding Party will be arriving at the venue much earlier in the day than everyone else!

There will be two main groups heading to the venue at different times. First will be the ladies who will be arriving at 9:00 am to do things like get the hair and makeup done, and whatever else bridesmaids do before a wedding (you can tell this was written by Reed).

The second group will be the groomsmen, who will be arriving in the late morning at ~11:30 am. Transportation TO THE VENUE for both groups will be handled separately, and will most likely take the form of either:

  1. Group Ubers from the Hampton Inn, Northgate.
  2. Having a family member or friend shuttle us there.

The bridesmaids will be departing at ~8:30 am for an arrival at the venue of ~9:00 am.

Departure: Bridesmaids

8:30 am

Departure: Groomsmen

10:45 am

The groomsmen will be departing at ~10:45 am for an arrival at the venue of ~11:30 am.

The ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing are all on-site!

The Wedding

5:15 pm to 11:30 pm

Departing From the Venue

11:30 pm

We have a hard "everyone out the door" policy at our venue, as such the shuttle will be leaving the venue promptly at the conclusion of the event, 11:30 pm.

All shuttles will be returning back to the Hampton Inn, Northgate.

We will be shuttling you to and from the venue, please do NOT Uber or drive a private vehicle to the venue!

We don't want to come across too forceful here, but it really is imperative that you take the shuttle to and from the venue. This is due to some unique restrictions and constraints inherent to our venue and its location, such as:

  • 1) Venue Restrictions

The venue has little to no private parking! The parking the venue does have on-site will need to be used for the vendors, the wedding party, and our guests who need more direct access to/from the venue for mobility reasons.

  • 2) No Ubers/Lyfts

The venue is in Woodinville a smaller town maybe 35 minutes Nort East of Seattle. Woodinville is an extremely popular destination for wine tastings! That said, those wineries all close at 4:00 pm PST and the Ubers leave Woodinville too.

The only way to leave the venue will be on the shuttle.

  • 3) Your Own Safety

We hope that you will be celebrating the evening with us and drinking wine and being merry! But do you know what doesn't mix well? Drinking and driving on roads you are unfamiliar with, in a vehicle that's not yours. Our greatest priority is your safety!

  • 4) Cost

Each of you is already going to much cost and effort to attend our wedding, and for that we are immensely grateful, and renting a car just to get to he venue is just one more added expense!

Shuttling all of you to the venue will be much cheaper for everyone than if each of you rented a car for the day!

Transportation Timeline:

We are booking 4 Sprinter Vans which seat 14 people each to transport people from the Hampton Inn in Northgate to the venue. Unfortunately, we cannot do larger shuttles due to incline and turning-radius restrictions at the venue. Those shuttles will be departing from a parking lot adjacent to the hotel:

The drive to the venue will take approximately 30 to 35 minutes. With the ceremony starting promptly at 5:30 pm, the shuttles will be leaving the hotel at 4:20 pm.
